El 2 de Agosto de 2009 se inauguró el nuevo Estadio de Fútbol del RCD Espanyol en Cornellá Prat, Barcelona. Fue un día histórico para el club ya que volvieron a su "casa" después de 12 años como alquilados en el estadio Olímpico de Montjuic.
El RCD Espanyol jugó el partido inaugural contra en Liverpool FC y ganaron a los "reds" 3 - 0.
El Estadio del RCD Espanyol es el primer estadio de Primera División proyectado por Fenwick Iribarren y ha conseguido el Premio Quantium 2009 a la mejor arquitectura deportiva en España.
On 2nd of august 2009 the new football stadium for the RCD Espanyol was opened in Cornella Prat, Barcelona. It was a historic day for the club as they were coming “home” after twelve years playing in rented premises in the Montjuic Olympic Stadium.
The RCD Espanyol played a magnificent game against Liverpool FC and beat the “reds” 3 – 0.
The Espanyol Stadium is the first stadium designed by Fenwick Iribarren in the Spanish First Division and has already been awarded the Quantium prize 2009 for the best sports architecture in Spain.
