Campus Acciona

In the heart of Madrid's Hortaleza district and next to the M-30, the new Acciona Business Complex is strategically located whose complete refurbishment works are being carried out by Fenwick Iribarren Architects after winning an architectural competition in 2019.

The main idea was to develop and enhance a green heart with landscaped areas and pedestrian walkways, relegating vehicles to the periphery of this large complex.  

The old existing buildings, once designed for the Banco Santander City, have heavy stone and brick cladding removed, leaving only the structure and a carpentry composed of a material with photo catalytic properties to create a transparent & ecologically responsible Campus which takes advantage of the views of the green space of pines and various species of trees, unique in the centre of Madrid.

There are several buildings in the complex that create the campus as well as sports, meeting and leisure areas, promoting social interaction and new methods for working outdoors. These buildings are joined by a pedestrian ring, where small electric carts can be used to go from one place to another on the Campus. This ring runs through the buildings, creating streets, recreational areas, cafes, etc., blending the limits between leisure and work making the Campus experience unique.
