Fenwick Iribarren Architects ha ganado un concurso restringido para diseñar un Complejo Deportivo para Mujeres en Doha, Qatar
El proyecto consiste en el diseño de un Complejo Deportivo exclusivo para Mujeres que sirva como modelo a desarrollar en diferentes barrios de la ciudad de Doha, Qatar.
Se caracteriza por una piel circular exterior protectora, formalizada en un muro grueso perforado, en contraposición con un cálido patio acristalado de entrada de luz al interior del edificio.
Este patio central de formas sinuosas, contiene un jardín que funciona a modo de máquina de interacción social, integrando en el programa deportivo consistente en piscinas, pista multiuso y gimnasio; actividades sociales a modo de club social, guardería, salas de juego y TV, etc. La flexibilidad de uso del edificio proporciona la posibilidad de desarrollar diversos eventos familiares y servir de nuevo punto de encuentro de la sociedad qatarí.
The project consists of a design for a Sports Complex for exclusive use by Women which can be used as a prototype that can be incorporated in different neighbourhoods within Doha, Qatar.
It is distinguished by its external circular protective shell, by means of a thick perforated wall, which contrasts with the warmth of the internal glazed patio which provides ample natural light to the building’s interior.
This central patio, with its curved forms, contains a garden which acts as the hub of social interaction. The program includes sports facilities such as swimming pool, multi-use sports hall and gymnasium, together with other social activities including social club, nursery, games and TV rooms. The flexibility of use of the building allows possibilities to carry out different family events as well as a social meeting point in the Qatari society.
