The competition aimed to create a large square where a new statue in honour of Stefan Nemanja could be placed as a sculptural element.
The goal was not only to create a public space but also to emphasize the history and memory of the city.

The existing building on the site was the Belgrade train station. Therefore, a unique urban space concept was developed for this city, drawing inspiration from both the Roman Theater and the history of the train. In front of the station building, a platform (podium) was created to serve as the stage for various events that will take place in the square. The “cavea” will feature multiple green areas, places to relax, urban pathways, and a promenade.
Finally, overlooking the square, the Scenion, the train station, served as a source of inspiration for the design, creating gears and radial pathways reminiscent of train wheels. This design is a metaphorical allusion to what will be the new engine of the city.
