FENWICK IRIBARREN ARCHITECTS HAS BEEN TASKED WITH DEVELOPING A MODERN COMPLEX RESEMBLING A “CAMEL TRACK,” A TYPE OF RACECOURSE DESIGNED FOR CAMEL RACING, FEATURING CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY THAT COULD POTENTIALLY BE APPLIED TO FOOTBALL STADIUMS IN THE FUTURE.

  • Client Aspire Zone
  • Location Doha Qatar
  • Spectators 5.000
  • Status Not Constructed

The concept is to construct a sort of ‘camel city’: it will have a 25-kilometer indoor circuit with an air conditioning system to cool the animals, and facilities like hospitals and cranes for the camels.

Additionally, there will be a VIP grandstand for around 450 spectators, which consists of a module that moves at speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour to literally follow the camels during the race. The lower monorail accommodates up to 150 robot operators, eliminating the need for more than 70 off-road vehicles that traditionally followed the camels.

It is one of the most astonishing and original architectural projects in the world today.
